Rice Prices in Pakistan: Basmati, Sella & Everyday Value
Rice is the second staple after atta, and the price gap between grades is huge. Aged basmati (Guard, Falak, Kernel) commands a premium for its long grain and aroma; sella (parboiled) rice is firmer and cheaper and holds up well in biryani; and broken or everyday rice is the value pick for daily boiled chawal.
As with all staples, buy the biggest bag you'll finish - the 5 kg and 10 kg packs beat the 1 kg bag on per-kg price - and compare the same brand across stores, where 10-20% differences are common. Below are the cheapest live rice prices we track.
